About Sparkle Bay Books

We make coloring books for the age when most coloring books are too hard.

Sparkle Bay Books started with a simple observation: most children's coloring books are drawn for eight-year-olds and then sold to two-year-olds. Thin lines, busy backgrounds, tiny gaps between the flowers. A toddler scribbles across the lot and gives up.

So every picture we make follows the same rules. Thick, uniform black outlines. One subject per page. Big open shapes that a chunky crayon can fill. No shading, no grey, no clutter. Where an animal has spots or stripes, they're drawn as empty outlines so the child colors them in too.

The books are printed one at a time by Amazon, on large 8.5 by 11 inch pages, with every picture on its own sheet and a blank back. Felt tips don't bleed through, and a finished page can be torn out and stuck on the fridge without losing the one behind it.

The range

Six titles so far: three animal books for ages 2 to 6 (including one all about Australian wildlife and one with a hundred animals), a unicorn coloring book for ages 2 to 6, a mermaid coloring book for ages 4 to 8, and a unicorn activity book for ages 4 to 8 that alternates pictures with mazes, dot-to-dots and puzzles.

Sparkle Bay Books is a small independent publisher based in Australia. The books are available worldwide through Amazon.
